De-Clutter to De-Stress by Tracy Desmond
In the last couple months our homes have become not only where we sleep and eat, but also where we work, where our kids learn, and where we virtually socialize.
One hard truth about our circumstance is that those needing health care services are left to their own devices. Maybe getting aid via tele-health opportunities, but largely relying on their previous resources and what they have at home. This, along with the constant worry of the unknowns, can increase stress.
While we hope that this pandemic brings about change in several systems at a local, state and national level, all we can do right now is focus on what we CAN control to combat the stress.

Taking away the clutter in your home creates a sense of ease and calm. Transition times tend to be the hardest; navigating between working hours and dinner for example. By decluttering and having designated spaces for related items, you can "clock out" and set the table seamlessly. Decluttering and streamlining your home is one sure way to decrease stress in this time.
Benefits of decluttering include:
An increased sense of confidence and self efficacy
More time spent on the work/activity at hand
A sense of purpose while cleaning
Ease of transitions
Decreased irritability
Increased Attention
Increased ability to focus
Lower blood pressure
Reduced Stress
Already overwhelmed? Don’t be!
