Estefania Sanchez

About

Estefania Sanchez is a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist who received her Master's Degree in Science from Florida International University, currently residing in sunny South Florida. She has experience working with the adult population at multiple hospitals in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient rehabilitation. Estefania has a vast background including but not limited to evaluating, diagnosing, and treating language, cognition, voice, swallowing, and speech deficits in patients with a history of stroke, cerebral aneurysm, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors, head and neck cancer, Lou Gehrig’s disease and Dementia together with VitalStim certification, experience with AAC devices and experience providing extensive treatment using EMST.

Estefania started her own business due to her passion to help provide patients with a better quality of life along with being a support system for their families. She's enthusiastic about utilizing evidence-based treatment and methods with the hope of positively impacting as many patients as she can through a work of love and compassion.

Estefania’s hope in being a workshop leader at Heal The Brain is to be able to help educate others in regards to language, cognition, voice, swallowing, and speech deficits, as well as being able to provide therapy techniques, resources, and referrals depending on patient's diagnosis. My goal is to be able to provide a better understanding of the above-named deficits and be a support system.

Unpacking Aphasia

Workshop Description

This workshop goes over defining what aphasia is, the different kinds of aphasia (receptive/expressive), and gives examples of each. Attendees will also learn what treatment consists of, examples of tasks that can help you, and education for families on how to aid and better communicate with their loved ones.
