Dr. Courtney Washington is a social worker. She earned her Masters Degree and Doctorate of Social Work from Tulane University. She is a former psychotherapist and supervisor with prisons. She has a broad range of clinical experience and uses an evidence based approach to determine the most appropriate therapeutic modality. Dr. Washington is familiar with a variety of modalities including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Strengths Based, Solution Focused, and others. Dr. Washington is also a stroke survivor, she had an ischemic stroke in 2017 and is now focused on raising awareness about strokes among young African American women as well as focusing on the intersections of race, sex, and the brain injury community. Dr. Washington’s research has long centered on mass incarceration , Critical Race Theory, and intersectionality.

In this class, Dr. Washington will talk about how to heal, build, and protect your important relationships. Learn about strategies to implement when communicating with your loved ones about your emotions, feelings, needs, and your unique journey as a survivor.
